The purpose of this site is to promote conservation in general, to give credit to those who contribute their time to protect and care for the environment.

KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. The Lions River conservation district covers some 2 415 square kilometres in the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal. It includes areas of tall grasslands biome (home to the protected blue swallow and Karkloof blue butterfly) and Beacon Hill (declared a site of conservation significance) as well as areas where you will find the cape parrots, cranes, oribi and black stinkwood. 

Due to the large area covered by the Lions River group, more active members are welcome from all walks of life. 

Monthly meeting: First Monday of every month - 18:00 at Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve offices in Howick.
